Life of Pi

Well, I must say na nung una kong makita ang trailer ng movie na itey, I thought it seemed interesting. Hindi naman ako palabasa ng books so I had no idea na based off a book pala sya. Then again, nowadays halos lahat ng Hollywood films eh either based sa book, videogame, musical, TV series, comics, etc. Anyway, it looked interesting pero I thought it's not something I would actually watch. Pero nung nag-showing na, sige more watch naman akels.

I wouldn't rave on the movie too much, chances are other folks have given you better reviews than mine. Basta nagandahan ako sa kanya and the message it conveys: hope. Diba in the film, you'd think that Pi's initial predicament was hopeless na, and many of us would probably surrender to despair if ever nasa same situation tayo. But Pi held on, not losing hope. It's a good metaphor for life eh--don't lose hope kasi you may think that your situation is hopeless pero you have no idea how much worse it could be. Besides, God won't give you a trial without providing you with the means to cope--you just need to apply a little ingenuity and, dare I say, risk a little. And if indeed you're at your limit at wala ka na ngang maibubuga pa, God will find a way to help you. Pero don't expect something grandiose or mga teleserye levels ng redemption. God won't spoil you, so he'd give you opportunities pero ikaw parin magsusumikap. In the case of Pi, God gave him a carnivorous island. Before Pi went there, may nauna nang tao and that person decided to drop his guard, so the island ended up eating him. Pero Pi (and we should too) kept a watchful eye and it saved him.

I also liked how Ang Lee was able to inject bits and pieces of humor when appropriate. Hindi naman kasi pwedeng maya't maya eh more banat sya unlike some movies we know. In movies like this one, you tend to appreciate emotions more kumpara sa iyong typical, run-of-the-mill comedies. The visuals were stunning. And contrary to what some US reviewers would say na Ang Lee daw should've made a clear distinction (on the visuals) whether what the audience was watching was meant to be real or just a hallucination, for me I totally understood na the whole point of the visual was to make it seem dream-like.

POElogue...

I guess the first thing you'd be asking is, what the heck is this person doing creating a blog? Well keber mo ba? Eh di gumawa ka rin ng sarili mong blog. Charaught lang. Wala lang, feeling ko diary ko ang internet eh. O sya, let's get it on! Ahihihihihihihi.
